Lola is a recent First-Class graduate in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, with a passion for social justice and community-driven change.
Her desire to work in the charity sector sparked from working as a fundraising and communications volunteer at Brighton Women’s Centre throughout her degree. This involved planning and co-ordinating events, community outreach, fundraising intiatives, and even a personal fundraiser, where she walked over 200 miles in 28 days, raising over £300.
Having lived in Islington her whole life, Lola is proud to be working locally, collaborating with local businesses, charities, and residents to help build a stronger, more connected community.
Meet the Staff
Eira is the newest member of the team, joining as CEO in June 2023. Before this she was Director at Kentish Town City Farm (Camden) and had worked in the arts sector including a long stint at the National Centre for Circus Arts (Circus Space, Hoxton) where she led on community engagement, participation and outreach.
Eira moved to Holloway as a student at London Met in 1996 and has never looked back. She loves being part of the diverse and somewhat eccentric community that is now home.
Chelsey started volunteering at The Old Fire Station in the summer of 2014 helping in reception. In October 2016 she became a member of staff taking on the assistant manager role.
Chelsey has been an Islington resident her whole life and has spent the last 20 years volunteering in various roles around the borough, including governor of a local school for 8 year, whilst bringing up 2 children. She loves Islington and is always happy to chat about the area.
Antoinette is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Old Fire Station Community Centre and the development and delivery of a programme of weekly activities.
Antoinette joined HNG in 2014 and has many years experience in arts and also in support and employability for groups facing disadvantage through lack of opportunity. She enjoys face-to-face work and project management, so describes herself as ‘happily busy’ as Centre Manager for the Old Fire Station.
